Gauze fabrics, with their light, transparent and elegant characteristics, continue to be favored by designers and brands in the fields of fashion, wedding dresses, home textile decoration, children's clothing accessories, etc. However, gauze is not a single category, but a diversified fabric system composed of a variety of raw materials and structural forms. For suppliers, systematically mastering the material types and structural differences of gauze is the key to creating a competitive product line and serving the needs of different customers.

Material type: Determines the essential characteristics of gauze
Silk gauze: a high-end representative of natural fibers
Silk gauze is usually woven from natural filaments such as mulberry silk or tussah silk. It has the skin-friendly and breathable properties of natural protein fibers, feels smooth and soft, has excellent drape, and is extremely comfortable to wear. It is often used in high-end fashion, custom dresses, light luxury scarves or high-end curtains.
Although the cost is high, its natural luster and breathability are excellent, and it is favored by the international high-end market. If suppliers serve high-end or foreign trade customers, it is recommended to keep high-quality silk gauze samples for pattern making reference.

Man-Made Fiber Gauze: The Main Product that Balances Performance and Cost
Polyester gauze is the most widely used gauze material in the market. It has good stiffness, easy care, and strong wrinkle resistance. It is suitable for scenes with large-volume demand such as wedding dresses, performance clothes, window screens, and holiday decorations.
Nylon gauze feels smoother and has good elasticity. It is often used in areas that require a certain degree of elasticity, such as close-fitting clothing and underwear trims. Compared with silk, man-made fiber gauze has a higher cost-effectiveness and richer processing technology, which is convenient for secondary processing such as printing, embroidery, and hot drilling.
Suppliers can make flexible recommendations based on customers' style (soft, stiff), budget, and garment use.
Structure type: determines the expression of fabrics and the expressiveness of clothing
Single-layer gauze: extremely light and breathable
Single-layer structure gauze is woven with one layer of yarn, which best reflects the "ethereal feeling" of gauze. It is suitable for use as an outer cover and decorative fabric, and can also be superimposed with other base fabrics to create a hazy visual effect. It is especially common in stage costumes, dress blouses or window screens.
However, single-layer gauze has relatively low strength and weak tear resistance. Suppliers need to remind customers to pay attention to matching linings in ready-made clothes or choose higher-count materials to improve stability.

Composite gauze: Improving functional and structural stability
Composite gauze is a composite of two or more layers of different types of gauze through processes such as gluing, point bonding or hot melting. It is often used to enhance stiffness, wrinkle resistance or visual layering effects. Some products are also composited with knitted base fabrics or coatings for special functional scenes, such as decorative fabrics, stage design, etc.
Compared with single-layer gauze, composite gauze is more suitable for structural clothing or rigid clothing, such as puffy skirts, dress hems, etc.

Elastic gauze: Meet the flexible needs of close-fitting wear
Elastic gauze adds spandex (Spandex) or high elastic yarn to the yarn or warp and weft structure, so that the fabric retains a light and breathable texture, and has a certain degree of elasticity. It is suitable for close-fitting inner wear, dance clothes, yoga clothes and other fields that require stretchability.
This type of fabric has higher requirements for weaving and post-processing technology. Suppliers should specifically indicate the elasticity level, rebound performance and whether it is suitable for splicing with other fabrics when promoting it.
